    Responsibilities Description:  The assistant golf course superintendent reports directly to the golf course superintendent. Under the superintendent’s supervision the assistant superintendent directs and participates in the maintenance of the golf course. The assistant superintendent may serve in the superintendent’s capacity during his/her absence.

    Assists in the planning and supervising the maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, and other landscape areas. Schedule’s work supervises the employees, and the use of equipment. Instructs equipment operators on the operation, care of mowing.

    Applies pesticides, fertilizers and takes care of sprayer to ensure proper application of pesticides and fertilizers and keeps accurate records.

    Participates in the operation and maintenance of pumps, irrigation system, and drainage systems. Able to repair Toro 670, 750, and 800 series sprinklers.

    Assist in the maintenance and repair of motorized and other mechanical equipment.

    Assists in personal management and evaluation, employee safety, discipline and may also modify the daily work schedule based on professional interpretation.

    Compensation and Benefits:  Salary, $60,00 - $70,000 depending on experience.  Benefits, 75% employer 25% employee Health Insurance, 401k (no matching), vacation and sick time, golfing privileges.  

    Education Requirements:  Two year degree preferred and minimum turf certificate.

    Facility Description:  The Country Club of Wilbraham is seeking a qualified Assistant Superintendent to assist the Golf Course Superintendent in planning, scheduling, assigning and leading a maintenance crew in performing daily course maintenance and/or preventative maintenance to support the successful operation of a semi-private golf course and facilities.

    Experience Desired: 

    • Golf course maintenance experience, with a proven record of having exceptional course conditions
    • Knowledge of pest control products and their applications
    • Knowledge of turf chemical and fertilizer products and their applications
    • Knowledge of pump house, irrigation utilization, drainage installation, repair, and maintenance
    • Have a current Massachusetts pesticide applicator license or the ability to acquire one prior to commencement of employment
    • Knowledge of calibrations, rates and spraying
    • Experience in the maintenance of mechanical components of equipment including mowers and tractors

    Responsibilities:  The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent will be a hands-on leader responsible for planning, implementing, overseeing, and assisting the team in the daily activities on the golf course, including golf course set-up, weekly cultural practices, fertilizer application, and calibration, solving and repairing irrigating issues, and leading/assisting with short—and long-term golf course projects

    • Leading and assisting the team, delegating and assigning daily assignments, providing guidance, training, coaching, and assistance, and ensuring work is completed as expected and in a timely manner
    • Assisting and managing the implementation of the agronomic plan
    • Identifying, evaluating, and recommending corrective action for agronomic problem areas, including funguses, pests, and drainage issues
    • Assisting in overseeing and supporting the daily set-up and maintenance of the golf course, including routine golf course maintenance, chemical applications, and equipment operations
    • Inspect irrigation systems, identify issues, and implement corrective action
    • Assisting in the recommendation, evaluation, planning, and implementation of long-term and short-term projects related to renovations, repairs, and care and maintenance of the course
    • Assisting in training new and existing staff in golf course equipment operations, safety procedures and the expectations of the Club
    • Educating and ensuring the team is aware of and follows safe work practices, and maintaining facilities and equipment that are safe, clean, and organized

    Compensation and Benefits:  

    • $50,000 - $55,000 annual salary commensurate with ability

    Facility Description:  Marlborough Country Club is a private golf course that accommodates public play on Mondays and Tuesdays. The back nine was originally designed and built in 1922 by Wayne E. Styles. In 1970, Geoffrey Cornish expanded the golf course with what is now the front nine. MCC strives to provide tournament conditions daily for members and their guests.

    Facility Description:  The Haven Country Club (Owned by Invited) was originally designed by William Mitchell in the early 1950’s and has most recently undergone numerous renovations under the guidance of Forse design. What was once a tight tree-lined course has now become considerably more open after years of tree removals incorporating stunning vistas, natural rock outcrops and large fescue areas.  All bunkers on course have also recently undergone renovation.

    The golf course utilizes a variety of equipment top brands and is suited to complete just about any golf course task. Irrigation system underground is primarily HDPE and PVC with above ground controlled by Toro Osmac and a Lynx system. Staff size fluctuates seasonally but averages 20 team members in season and 6 to 8 full-time yearly employees to complete off-season projects and winter maintenance. The maintenance shop is also suited very well to cater to the team and produce a championship caliber course. 

    Compensation and Benefits: 

    • $25.00 - $28.00/hour based on experience (1.5 OT after 40 hours)
