    Essex Country Club

    Description:  Essex Country Club is located in the Northwest of Vermont near Burlington. It is close to Lake Champlain and Mount Mansfield. The course is designed by Canadian Golf Course Architect Graham Cooke, and the course is considered a local gem. It has a reputation for outstanding putting surfaces, a solid layout with great views of the Vermont Green Mountains. The course is privately owned and is looking to improve the overall course conditions with an emphasis on the tees, bunkers, and improved weed control, especially summer annual grasses. The greens are Penncross Bentgrass with a minimal amount of Poa annua. The tees and fairways are primarily Penncross Bentgrass with some Kentucky Bluegrass and Poa annua mixed in. The roughs are Kentucky Bluegrass. The course was built in 1990 and the first green has been rebuilt. The greens are a Modified California construction. The irrigation system is manual. This is a seasonal golf environment with the course generally being open April into November.

    The Senior Assistant Golf Course Superintendent is:

    Ø  Responsible for the leadership of golf course maintenance operations.

    Ø  Responsible for the development of team members.

    Ø  Responsible for providing a safe and productive work environment for all employees.

    Ø  Must be able to recognize diseases, insects, weeds and create a plan to solve the issues

    Ø  Must be able to implement an agronomy plan that in turn creates the best conditions for the golfers

    Salary & Benefits:  Due to the location in Vermont this is a 10-month position, but the ideal candidate will return early each spring to begin the process of hiring a team and getting the course ready to open.     Description: Alpine Country Club is a private 18-hole design by Geoffrey Cornish in Cranston, RI. Opened in 1960, the course comprises 150 acres which includes the golf course, extensive practice facilities, a pool area and horticultural amenities. Alpine has a growing, active membership with annual rounds at 17,000+ during a ten month season.

    Education: Four or two year degree preferred in Turf Management or related field. Should possess or be able to obtain RI Pesticide Applicators License.

    Experience: As part of the Alpine team you will be expected to help manage work efficiently around play. Candidate should have strong experience in basic maintenance tasks, irrigation management, equipment operation training, fertilizer/pesticide applications, course set-up, and IPM scouting. Should ideally have at least 2 years’ experience in managing and training staff to perform at a level to exceed our members and guests expectations.
