Duties Description: The Equipment Technician reports to the Superintendent and oversees a comprehensive preventive maintenance program. This program includes the repair of failing equipment, keeping records of parts and labor needed to maintain each piece of equipment, and placing orders for parts and supplies needed for equipment or service. The Equipment Technician properly communicates any needs or problems relating to the maintenance or repair of equipment to the Superintendent and/or the Assistant Superintendent. The Equipment Technician places safety as a top priority and is responsible for maintaining a clean service area and maintenance building. The Equipment Technician is responsible for managing repairs and project work within a budget that the Superintendent provides.
Special Skills: Ability to communicate effectively and keep business records. Complete knowledge of reel technology, including but not limited to: spin grinding, relief grinding, back-lapping, bedknife grinding, quality of cut adjustment, height of cut adjustments, proper bearing function, and after-cut quality and appearance.
Compensation / Benefits: $52,000/ year
Education Level Required: Ideal candidate will have a degree or certificate from either a college or vocational school in a mechanical field of study.

Facility Description: Private country club in Reading, Massachusetts is seeking a dedicated, motivated and team-oriented individual for the position of “Equipment/Shop Manager”. Meadow Brook Golf Club, established in 1898, is a private, 9-hole facility designed by Alexander Findley. The club completed construction of a new state of the art maintenance facility in 2011.
Experience Desired: Golf Course experience preferred but not mandatory including reel and bed knife grinding. Candidate must also have a working knowledge of light and heavy maintenance equipment and automotive apparatuses and be skilled in the use of a variety of equipment repair tools plus a working knowledge of the theory, care, and operation of internal combustion engines and mowing equipment. The candidate must have knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the profession.
Duties Description: Some duties include inspecting, diagnosing and repairing all golf course maintenance equipment as well as managing a complete preventive maintenance program within budget on all equipment, purchases parts and replacement supplies. Candidate will also oversee the shop area maintenance, perform routine welding, torching and fabricating as well as perform all snow removal duties including plowing, shoveling and salting. Other duties performed will be reel and bed knife grinding, assist in irrigation and pump house repairs, monitoring gas and diesel levels in fuel tanks and performing all aspects of golf course maintenance as directed by the superintendent.
Special Skills: The candidate must have the ability to move & lift heavy objects and work in a variety of weather conditions. Should be able to diagnose mechanical troubles and determine appropriate maintenance work as well as the ability to communicate effectively and keep complete and accurate business records. Possession of a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation is a must. Must be available to work weekends and holidays if needed and be available to work a 40+-hours/week, 52 weeks per year.
Compensation / Benefits: An hourly position with a pay rate of $20-$25/hour DOE. The average workweek is 43 hours throughout the year.
