Facility Description: Founded in 1895, Wollaston Golf Club (WGC) is a private, member owned 18 hole course located in Milton, Massachusetts. WGC features dining facilities, function rooms, a championship 18 hole Fazio designed/constructed golf course (one of his first), swimming pool and four outdoor tennis courts.
The parkland layout of WGC consists of 2.5 acres of bent/poa greens, 2 acres of bentgrass tees, 22 aces of bent/poa fairways, 2 acres of minimal maintenance areas and one acre of annual/perennial planting beds. WGC has a Toro irrigation system with a pump house consisting of a Flowtronix pump station with three horizontal 500gpm pumps. The maintenance staff consists of the superintendent, two asst. superintendents, mechanic, crew foreman, horticulturist, one intern, three full time crew members, and twelve seasonal full/part time crew members.
Experience Desired: One to two years working within the golf course industry
Duties Description: WGC has an extremely progressive membership whom demand championship caliber golf course conditioning on a daily basis. The second assistant will work with the superintendent, assistant superintendent, and crew in order to meet the expectations of WGC's membership. Daily duties will include, but are not limited to, crew supervision and scheduling, moisture monitoring and hand watering, course setup, irrigation maintenance and repair, and chemical/fertilizer applications.
We are in search of an open minded individual looking to further their career within the golf course maintenance industry. After two years of employment, our goal is to have the individual in this position prepped and ready to move onto/into a lead/first assistant position.
Special Skills: Applicants must have or be willing and able to acquire their Massachusetts pesticide applicators core license asap.
Compensation / Benefits: 50k to 55k DOE. This is a salaried position with Club 70/30 Tufts Health Care plan, Delta Dental plan, 401k eligibility after one year of service, meals when club dinning services are operational, Uniforms, paid vacation and sick time, paid dues to local and national associations, paid continuing education, golfing privileges, and performance and holiday bonuses.
Education Level Required: Recent graduate of a two or four year agronomy program. Applicants with a turf certificate coupled with ample experience will also be considered.
