Facility Description:

The Dedham Country and Polo Club came into existence in 1910. Famed golf course designer, Donald Ross designed the original nine holes. In 1923, another renowned architect, Seth Raynor, was hired to design 10 new holes while revising the original holes, creating a unique and challenging 18 holes of golf. The Club hosted one National Championship in 1975, the USGA Girls Junior Championship, as well as numerous other state championships since that time. In 2017, thanks to a progressive membership and staff, the club embarked on a major restoration to embrace its Raynor history. This restoration was completed in 2018 and involved a complete greens rebuild to USGA specifications, bunker renovation, new irrigation system, fairway expansions, and cart paths. Dedham is a family oriented, ‘amenities-diverse’ operation in a highly desirable part of the Boston suburbs.

Club Features:

• The club’s key amenity is its historic Seth Raynor designed course, as well as its excellent practice facilities

• 74 acres of maintained turf with brand new USGA 007/ Pure distinction bentgrass greens designed with Precisionaire systems

Job Description:

DCPC is seeking a qualified, highly motivated, team oriented individual to join our team as an Assistant Superintendent. During this unique opportunity, the Assistant will lead a diverse staff in a wide range of activities involved in daily golf course maintenance and continuation of ongoing course improvement projects. The Assistant will work closely with and report directly to the Golf Course Superintendent. They will also be heavily involved, among other things, in daily decision making, staffing, crew leadership, budgeting, project planning, water management, and plant protectant applications. In addition, the Superintendent’s objective, by utilizing a strong network and industry ties will assist this individual in reaching their career goals.

Experience Desired:

• Prior experience as a successful Assistant Superintendent, AIT, or Intern

• Construction and renovation experience

• Extensive knowledge of calibration, plant protectant applications, and bentgrass/poa management

Duties Description:

• Oversee efficient operations of all golf course maintenance that provides our members and their guests with an outstanding golf experience on a daily basis

• Ability to manage daily irrigation practices to produce firm, fast and healthy playing conditions

• Implement cultural practices to manage all playing surfaces including the new greens

• Supervise calibration, application, and record keeping of plant protectants

• Communicate effectively with membership and staff

• Work closely with every department

• Able to obtain a MA pesticide certification within 90 days

Special Skills: Self-motivated with a positive attitude and proven leadership skills for a diverse staff

Compensation / Benefits: $55,000-$65,000 (DOE) + housing available
